Get On-board with Newness

What are you hungering for? This is one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves, especially in this current season. It is a season that is set apart to bask in the newness that God is bringing into our lives. Some of us are poised to rejoice, but many of us are still clinging to things that should have been killed off long ago. My own life experience leads me to understand how critical it is to recognize the danger signs of clinging to something way past its expiration date. These are flashing lights we’re in danger of becoming out of sync with the newness God has promised. Can we miss this thing? Oh, absolutely we can! Most of us do miss it. We’ve failed to comprehend that the next new thing is predicated on recognizing, appreciating, and maximizing the new thing that’s here now. So, it’s time for some spirit-deep clarity, because the extent to which we get on board with the Lord’s agenda is dependent upon what we’re hungering for right now. And we really need to come clean about what that is.

Are we hungering for truth? It’s the only thing that allows us the spiritual strength needed to reach out and grab what’s ours. The knife and folk we need to bring to the table is for meat, not milk. The first piece of information we must chew on is the truth that God doesn’t need anything from us. His desire is to add to us so that we can be the person He has destined us to be. This is always His Will and desire. He created us to be His children. Act 17:26 says that He made from the blood of one human, Adam, everybody else that live within the earth. He knows when each person will be born because He has pre-appointed the time of their birth, right down to the millisecond. Not only has He pre-appointed the time of every individual’s birth, but He also set the boundaries of where they would be born. So, you and I are not accidents or mistakes. Everything about our creation and birth is purposeful to the plan and will of God.

We were born for such a time as this. But when we spend too much energy focusing on a relationship, person, thing, situation, or place, we miss the internal cues that awaken us to change. There are angels assigned for the specific purpose of shaking things up so that believers do not become too attached to where they are. Given our own devices, we’d always stay stuck to what is most comfortable for us. This does not foster growth or communion with Heavenly Father, and it doesn’t help us open our eyes to the next destiny move God’s purposed us to make.

Anything that does not grow will die. This is the effect of holding on to stuff too tightly for too long. Ultimately it becomes toxic for us because it is out of sync with the very core of our identities. In this moment, you and I are works in progress. That’s why faith is so phenomenally important. It’s painful sometimes to let go. We have to be willing to endure temporary sacrifice for long term gain. We must have faith in the person that God sees when He looks at us, and we must know that we are transforming into this person.

We crave intimacy in our relationships with the significant people in our lives. One of the most crucial aspects of this intimacy is communication. We want to feel as though we’re being heard, and we also want to make sure we’re hearing our partner as well. This is important in the context of our relationships with people, but it doesn’t compare to the importance of hearing the Father and listening attentively to what He has to say to us. He’s going to tell us the information that is integral to our journeys on earth. He wants to provide us with a piece of revelation that brings the image of our highest self into greater view. Are you hungering for this revelation? Because you won’t receive it if you aren’t.

Get on board with the newness the Lord Jesus Christ is bringing your way. Don’t be afraid to release anything that might be blocking your spirit from attracting the good things you need. God has predestined you and appointed you to walk upon this earth for such a time as this. He has great plans for your life. Surrender your all to Him and let Him have His way. You won’t regret it!■
