Who Jesus Christ Really Is and Why He Had to Come

Why Knowing Who Jesus Really Is Changes Everything

More Than What You’ve Heard

There are a lot of opinions about Jesus Christ. Some say He was just a good man. Others call Him a prophet, a teacher, or a historical figure who made an impact on the world. But if that’s all He is, then we’re still left searching. Because a good man can’t save a broken soul, and a teacher can’t redeem a life that’s been lost.

Why His Coming Was Necessary

To understand who Jesus really is, we have to start with why He came. His coming wasn’t random, and it wasn’t just to inspire people to be better. It was necessary. Humanity didn’t just drift—we chose distance. Sin created a separation we didn’t have the power to fix. No amount of effort, discipline, or religion could close that gap. Something deeper was required. Someone sinless had to step in and do what we could not do for ourselves.

That’s where Jesus comes in. He is not just sent by God—He is the Son of God, the visible expression of the Father, carrying His authority, His nature, and His heart. John 1:14 (NLT) says, “So the Word became human and made his home among us.” That means God didn’t stay distant. He stepped into our world, put on flesh, and lived among us so we could see Him clearly, hear Him directly, and finally understand who He is.

The Life He Lived and the Love He Showed

Jesus lived a life we couldn’t live—without sin, without compromise, fully obedient to God. And then He did something even more powerful: He gave His life—He died an agonizing death on the cross. Not because He was forced to, but because it was the only way to deal with sin once and for all. Romans 5:8 (NLT) says, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” That kind of love isn’t surface-level. That’s intentional. That’s personal.

When Jesus went to the cross, it wasn’t just an event in history—it was a transaction. He took on the penalty of sin so we wouldn’t have to carry it. And when He rose from the dead, He proved that sin and death didn’t win. That resurrection wasn’t just power—it was access. Access for us to be restored back to God, not as strangers, but as people who are known and accepted.

A Relationship, Not Just Religion

So knowing Jesus isn’t about memorizing facts or repeating religious language. It’s about recognizing who He truly is and responding to Him. He is Savior, yes—but He is also Lord. That means He leads, He corrects, He speaks, and He walks with you. John 10:27 (NLT) says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” That’s not distant. That’s relationship.

If you’ve never really known Him, this is where it begins—not with perfection, but with openness. A willingness to see Him for who He is and not just what you’ve heard. Jesus didn’t come just to be talked about. He came so you could be changed. Restored. Brought back into relationship with the God who created you.

And once you truly meet Him, you’ll realize something deeply personal—

He came to do more than fix a broken world—He came because of His overwhelming, unconditional love for you. ■
